These Stainless Steel Ear Studs,12mm Bezel Tray, 10mm Posts 100/Pkg are an economical way to produce earrings if you are selling as they are fast to produce and being stainless steel can be worn by most people.
Cut a circle of clay using our Micro Cutter Set #2 or Set of 12 or a small round cutter. Press the clay into the tray as the tiny lip around the top of the bezel is slightly angled inwards and will hold the clay securely in place. The thickness of the clay can be varied to create a flat or domed top.
Cure according to the instructions for the brand of clay you are using.
Note:
12mm Round Glass Cabochons fit these bezel trays.
Design Tips:
- Mix a blend of clay colours roughly together to get a marbled look. Roll out and cut as described above.
- Use a thin layer of clay, which may be patterned, silk screened etc.before cutting circular disks for the bezel. Press lightly into the bezel tray, cure and cool thoroughly before topping with a layer of resin.
- Experiment colouring the outer bezel with alcohol inks, Swellegant or Gilders Paste (finish with a sealant to prevent colour coming off).
Technique tip:
- If you have the Lucy Clay Tools baking rack, use the holes in the lid to sit the posts of the earrings in. Very handy for curing / baking large quantities. If you are only curing one or two sets, insert the posts into a scrap clay (as pictured below). You then have a reusable holder for curing pairs of post earrings.
