In the polymer clay world, the term tissue blade is used rather loosely to describe thin sharp blades used to cut polymer clay. However, a true tissue blade is used in the medical field to cut paper thin slices of human tissue. These blades are actual tissue blades, much sharper than a polymer clay blade. Scientific tissue blades have long been a favoured tool for cutting thin slices of canes and also for taking super thin slices using mica shift and mokume gane techniques.
