Pan Pastel – Orange is ultra soft professional artists’ pastels packed in a unique pan format. The colour is lifted from the pan using applicators and sponges specifically developed for use with the pastels (see the Sofft Tools section). Pan pastels are very blend-able which allows you to mix colours to extend your palette. They are also very painterly as you can create very delicate marks and veils whilst also having the ability to block in large areas very quickly. The Pan Pastels mix very well with regular pastels and using them together gives you the advantages of both.
Pan pastels are best applied to the less abrasive papers. This is simply because the applicators and sponges work extremely well on less abrasive surfaces, allowing you to paint with delicacy and also to make free flowing marks. They are also perfect for all your mixed media uses. Applications over stencils and silkscreens or dusting your finished sculptures and mini charms really add the extra element to your work. The colour fastness of Pan Pastels are the best in the game when used on Polymer Clay. They are so highly pigmented and smooth they almost act like a paint. I have applied Pan pastels to raw polymer clay – baked the pieces and them buffed them with a buffing machine and the colour held fast to the polymer clay.
There are 80 standard colours in the range as well as metallic and fluorescent colours. A range of pearlescent mediums is also available which you can apply to all of the pan pastel colour range. Can be applied with finger, cotton bud, or brush and used for both drawing and colouring. The high quality pigments provide vibrant colours and excellent light fastness.
We recommend using with the range of silkscreens by MOIKO specifically designs for using with chalks and powders.
