Lumiere Lusters™” are metal oxide flakes and powders that come in high and low temperature varieties, both of which are suitable to use with polymer clay, resin, wax and a multitude of other craft mediums. Use to mimic dichroic glass or to add a colour changing/chameleon glittery dimension to projects.The High Temp variety is suitable for Glass Lampwork. Large transparent Gold Dust Opal super flakes transmit all kinds of colour shades. Best on dark base.

Lumiere Lusters™ – Gold Dust Opal Super Flake (High Temp) by JetAge Studio are specialty colour shifting, heat resistant metal oxide powders and flakes that work glittery magic in lampworked glass, polymer clay and a multitude of other mediums. They are solvent reistant and rated to resist heat up to about 760^oC (1400^oF). Don’t expect the expected! Instead, be surprised by the beautiful variability! Similar to Dichroic Extract powder, they shift colour and throw off a lot of shine. The larger particle sizes create a beautiful sparkle that you can’t get from micas, and give quite a different effect from powdered extract. They’re also a great cost effective alternative to dichroic coatings and are more heat tolerant than regular powdered micas. The flakes are extremely lightweight. Use sparingly – a little goes a very long way. Containers are filled by volume and contain 5 grams/5ml each.

Polymer Clay Instructions:

Lumiere Lusters™ are incredibly versatile and because they’re heat resistant, work exceptionally well with polymer clays, adding intense colour and shimmer to pieces.

Simply drop the flakes on with tweezers or rub the powders or flakes onto the surface of raw clay before baking. You can also add these powders to resin projects or transparent paint mediums. A black background gives a stunning result.

Although they adhere very well to clay, a protective coating (eg transparent liquid clay, Pearl Ex Varnish, Sculpey or Fimo Glaze etc) for items that will be handled a lot may be required. Seal with resin or Magic Glos to add a glass like appearance to finished objects.

Lampwork Instructions:

For lampworking: Simply take a small amount of powder or flake out of the container and place on a heat resistant surface. Roll molten glass over the flakes/powders and encase, avoiding direct exposure of the flakes to the flame. Lumiere Lusters™ create holographic shimmer under encasement, or sparkly colour shifting intense colour when left on the surface of your beads. Roll molten glass into the flakes or powders, shape, then garage as usual. Like micas, some flake will brush off after cooling, but the particles that stick will leave a colour shifting glimmer.
