Baroque Art Gilders Paste German Silver 30ml

Baroque Art Gilders Paste is now known as Gilders Past Wax!

Application:

Apply Gilders Paste onto clean, dry, oil free surfaces with a finger, paintbrush, sponge, soft cloth, or any other desired applicator. Burnishing with a soft cloth will produce a high lustre or gilded effect. To create a cream, paint, stain or wash thin a little of Baroque Art Gilders Paste with paint thinners. Layer or mix colours to give depth and give your work individuality . Completely smooth surfaces are to be roughened with a fine sandpaper or fine steel wool. Gilders Paste is touch dry in 10 -15 minutes and completely dry in approx. 12 hours with no tacky residue. Let dry for at least 12 hours before polishing.

If the product becomes dry in the tin:

Add a few drops of either; paint thinner, mineral spirits or turpentine. Use a knife to cut and mix it in. The ability to rejuvenate this product allows a long shelf life. There is no need to mix up the whole tin. Mix what you need as you need it. GILDERS™ paste wax goes a long way. 30ml (1.5 oz.) covers almost 3 sq meters (30 sq. feet)

Important: Do not use any oil base cleaners/solvents such as Turpenoid Natural. The oil content of these type of cleaners/solvents will not allow the Gilders Paste to dry and will remain wet or tacky for days to weeks. If you have accidentally used this type cleaner/solvent leave the tin open until completely dried out and then follow the suggestion for rejuvenation above.

Techniques:

Transform an old or existing piece of metal into a shimmering masterpiece. With so many uniquely rich colors to choose from, the artistic possibilities are endless.

Apply to polymer clay using a piece of cloth over a finger tip. Apply to the whole piece or raised areas only.  In addition, to apply as a background to a textured piece, cover the whole lot using a brush. Then wipe the raised areas back with a cloth dipped in paint thinner, mineral spirit or turpentine.  Dry thoroughly then apply a different colour to the raised area only or, leave as is.  This could be a way to use up scrap clay. Also use this method to achieve an antiqued effect on textured pieces.  Apply around the edges of piece to give a bezel or border effect.

“Gilders Paste is a wax as you know and all waxes shrink to some degree. Gilders Paste Wax is formulated to be a firm wax that becomes a dry, hard, durable and tack free wax base finish. It can be rejuvenated over and over again. Simply add a few drops of paint thinner, turpentine or mineral spirits. The term “Turps” may ring a bell with you, use whatever you call the solvent to thin out paint. The least expensive solvent is fine. Add a few drops and mix or knife it in by scraping and adding paste to the solvent and mixing together. Continue to add thinner to paste until you get the consistency and quantity needed.

There is no reason to mix up the whole tin. Gilders Paste Wax goes a long way, as you know. Leaving some of the firm wax in the tin allows you to use dry brush techniques, with complete control of application and colour as well as the reconstituted mix for other applications.”
