Our Stainless Steel Jump rings are of excellent quality with very even cuts that allow them to be closed with virtually no gap.
How to strengthen and open and close jump rings
Make sure there are no ridges or teeth on the pliers that will damage the jump rings. We recommend using our purpose designed, 2 plier sets.
- To open jump rings, grip with a plier on each side, and very close to the ends of the wire.
- Twist one side toward you and the other away from you. Never stretch the jump rings outwards!
- To close the jump rings and strengthen them at the same time, grip both sides of the jump ring close to the opening and reverse the step above, twisting one side away and the other side toward you.
- When they are closed, gently twist back and forth (moving them only couple of millmetres) and at the same time, putting pressure from both sides inwards so the cut edges scrape together. The twisting motion has the effect of strengthening the wire and also closes the join very tightly.
